Panel members:

David began his career in music in 1994 as a member of the Ballistic Brothers, together with Ashley Beedle and Rocky & Diesel, of X-Press 2.

In 1995 he co-founded the Nuphonic record label, where he looked after all creative aspects. Nuphonic went on to release almost a hundred records with artists including Faze Action, Norman Jay, Andrew Weatherall and David Mancuso. In addition to the record label, Nuphonic also produced the Sony award winning London Xpress radio show for Xfm, which led to various club nights and launched him as a music consultant to brands such as Orange, Levi’s and Budweiser. This also introduced him to the British Council, where he worked on projects in Namibia and Brazil.

In 2003 David chose to close the Nuphonic label and when on to act as a freelance consultant to several record companies. The first of these was Soul Jazz records, for whom he produced a number of successful albums: in 2004 the ‘World of Arthur Russell’ and then the highly acclaimed ‘Soul Gospel’ series, which showcased soulful tracks recorded by gospel artists that would appeal to general black music fans.

At this time David also became an experienced events producer who worked with Saatchi & Saatchi, Puma, Absolut Vodka, Haunch of Vension and Frankfurt Fine Art Fair.

Then in 2004 David oversaw the production for Auralux, the London based reggae re-issue record label, which led him to work with Lee Perry, King Jammy, Barrington Levy, Linval Thomspon, Mikey Dread and Sly & Robbie.

In 2007, together with Damian Montagu, David formed Radial Music, a company that specializes in composing bespoke music for commercials, games, film and TV.

Additionally, David runs Rootikal, a monthly roots reggae night in London’s Shoreditch, where he DJs alongside residents David Rodigan and Earl Gateshead.
